Ich bin dann mal weg - off we go - doei doei

  After a good nights sleep in my tiny hotel room I’m getting ready to go to my diving adventure. The meeting point is 15 minutes away from my hotel, so I decided to walk. After a couple of minutes I started to regret. I’m carrying 2 backpacks and a handbag and it’s already nearly 30 degrees at 7:30am. But it’s a beautiful way through the sleepy colonial style old city center of Cartagena. Arriving at the docks I’m so glad that I had transportation organized via my dive center. Due to the Easter weekend it’s absolute chaos at the pier. My meeting point is past the main area and I soon arrive. It was a warm welcome and after a short waiting time we all go on the boat to the island. I wanted to leave my big backpack, but my hotel would have charged 10€ for that and the dive center would be closed on my return. So all my luggage went on the boat. The Lost City trek, what an amazing 4 days. As usual my preparations were so-so and I didn’t really know what to expect. But I’m so glad I’ve done this trip. With 510€ for 4 days it’s not the cheapest adventure. And the hike is definitely not an easy one. But all of it so worth it. But let’s start at the beginning.   It’s Tuesday morning and I’m at Santa Marta. My tour provider is about to pick me up, but I’m still waiting for my breakfast. The guy had said that the avocado mushroom sandwich can be ready in 15 minutes. Well, those 15 minutes are over. So I ask for a to go sandwich. Sure, no problem.
