Day 13: Hiking top the top

Today we are on our way to the highest point. And that even twice: the highest point of the München - Venedig Route  (No specific peak, 2962m) and a peak which is just next to the route (Piz Boe, 3152m). And in the morning we had a difficult decision to make: do both today and sleep at the hut right on the top, or in the 'standard' hut just below. As we already had a 7 hours walking day to the standard hut, we decided to do the extra hour up to the peak the next morning (maybe get up there for sunrise?). The day started with a nice easy hike and then a descent to Grödner Joch. Arriving there I was very happy that we hadn't decided to stay there. Another very touristic place. It can be very annoying if you go down a narrow path and tons of people come the other way. And again, the Italians are so loud!
After a short break we made or way up again. It became very quickly very steep, again via gravel and then quite a bit of climbing with steal ropes. Again plenty of tourists, but this time mainly climbing groups, who did the Klettersteig up in the mountains. We arrived at Rifugio Piscadu, which is a beautiful mountain hut next to a lake, where we had lunch. Another 2 hours, again mix of gravel and climbing we made it to the Boe hut.
With a mixed feeling (slightly exhausted vs regret that we don't fully go up) we made ourselves home in the hut and enjoyed a great dinner at 2873m high. Impressive how these huts manage supply with only two options: fly in via helicopter or bring up with the lift & carry for roughly 45 minutes up the last bit. The only little bit of comfort you miss: no shower or warm water and you need to buy drinking water.
