my first day in the mountain
I don't have Internet - which is a weird feeling by itself, but I definitely need to write down my thoughts from today. because I already notice how all the pain changes into 'ah it wasn't that bad'. another thing that reminds of a pregnancy (for the ones who like the joke about my 9 months sabbatical).
so here my thoughts of today:
- ah this isn't too bad. made the first 3 hours hike in 2.5 hours.
- beautiful, the ice blue river (die Isar)
- but a bit boring in the plain
- why did I decide to walk 10ish days?
- uh there are the mountains, beautiful!
- yeah, first time trying the hiking poles, amazing!
- why does that sign say still 4 hours? I already did 50% of the km
- hmm, my hiking speed went from 'pretty good' to 'a snail just passed me'
- this is hard
- I'll never make it
- I hate this
- screw the people who say you should listen to nature, I'm putting music on
- yes,with pink,Kensington and some charts I'm better
- I love my new backpack
- who said I'd never walk alone? no hiker passed me yet, biking seems to be it now
- this is too long
- beautiful view, I've actually made it up quite a bit already
- my everything hurts
- uh the editors are singing 'son you are made to suffer'. not sure they actually sing it, but I heard it for sure. feel really connected. am I made to suffer?
- ok now the path is gone, but there are still red dots, I must be right
- hmm I don't think it is good that my left shoe sole is falling apart
- stupid cow, get out of the way
- I hate places up in the mountain where people drive up by car. that's cheating. but hey, they have beer! maybe I can ask them if I can stay here
- last incline, it can't be that bad
- it is worse. maybe I should have known when I read 1000m up in a day
- I haven't mentioned it before,but it is hot! all day! sun,sun,sun
- love my new Banff, even though I probably look ridiculous
- the hut, the hut, the hut
- they offer me alcohol free Weizen before I need to do anything. I take it!
ok, as you may have noticed, it was a long day. 6.5-7 hours was not a bad time, considering the book said 6.5 hours pure walking time.
the rest of the day was great, eating and drinking at the hut, meeting some great people with whom I will walk together tomorrow. and a friend of the owner actually biked up here and sold me new shoes!
so my plan for tomorrow: have breakfast, hike down to the next village and then see how I feel. if all is good i finish tomorrow's 6.5 hours hike, if it's too much I stop there.
I love this freedom :-) greetings from the Tutzinger hütte, a great place to be!
