Day 3: finding my own pace

End of day 2 it was clear: I couldn't go on like this. Despite me telling everyone that I plan to take my time and not let myself hurry, that is exactly what I did. I guess on day one I wanted to prove myself that i can make it in the time that the book says and because I was afraid I may not find the way. day 2 it was nice to walk with the group and as long as there was no incline I could hold the pace. only not for 6-7 hours...
So beginning of day 3 I was very clear that I will walk my own pace and if they wait in between that is nice, but no one is obliged. so that way we started with our group of 6 and it went well. I realised  that as long as I walk in a steady slow pace I can make it through a 6-7 hours hike with 1000m incline and roughly 24 km distance. The sun was burning which made it a real challenge, but I made it up to the Karwendelhaus. And because I walk so slow I don't need so many breaks and actually arrived about the same time than my group.
No need to say that the place is amazing and beautiful, definitely worth the hike. Unfortunately it is a well known place for short trip hikers and mountainbikers. therefore the hut is huge and was nearly full. we missed the cute little hut from the day before.
In the evening I was torn between making finally a day to rest or continue with the group. however, the route was meant to go via the Birkarspitze at 2700m which means the day is 1500m up and the same down again. My dilemma got solved by itself when the hut owner showed pictures he made with his drone (!) from the peak and strongly advised not to go without snow gear. The alternative would be to go around, ending up in 38 km day. Luckily the hut owner advised to take a taxi for a part and so the group decided to do that. Sounded like a good plan and not knowing if I would meet people the day after to join me on that adventure I again skipped my rest day.
The day ended with football with roughly 60 people in a 20m2 room. So if the result would have been different it would have been a great finish off a great day.
And as I messed up and put todays pictures in yesterdays blog only one extra picture today :-)
