Day 7: just a nice hike - and slide

I woke up to the news that Portugal is European champion. After the very tiring day before, again I had thought about a rest day. Again I didn't. It started to become a running joke in the group, not only me talking about a rest day but nearly everyone at one time.  So far no one did. So we started again to a decent day trip, 6.5 hours planned, 1200m up and 900m down. Again the guy at the hut advised to go slow and don't make too many breaks. And I managed well! The first 4 hours were mainly up, on quite annoying underground sometimes. The gravel parts sucked (you go three steps up and end back where you started) and even more the snow parts. Usually fine but at some points it was verry slippery, and so I ended up on a little slide back down. When I told my friends about my little 'rodeln' experience, the guy who had witnessed it felt obliged to mention that it was combined with quite some swear words.
Arriving on top I was proud as I still felt very good. And then came a very annoying part down and I finally am at the point to admit that going down a long and steep way is worse than going up the same!
After a short break at an ice cold river (nice for the hurting feet after that descent) we made the last bit of the day and I arrived tired but well at tonight's stop: the Tuxer Joch Haus. We were lucky we had reserved the morning before, a lot of people had to sleep on emergency beds. However, the sentence 'the room is bigger than the door' should have warned us. I have to admit we had a very funny evening there, but I had the worst night ever there. 6 people on 4 mattresses next to each other and not very comfy. And the room was that small that every other minute you could hear an ouch because someone bumped their head. Overall this was unfortunately again not the best hut, very commercial and unfriendly. The host didn't even bother to give any advise about the weather and next days route. But with the right people, any place can be fun.
