Day 23: Me and my plans

It is time to say goodbye. We all pack or bags, get our hiking shoes on and go. The only difference: my backpack is very light as I packed only very few water and I'm not wearing my knee bands today. Because while the others keep on walking to Venice, I am done with it. My walk is a 10 minutes walk to the station where I take a train and then bus to my hotel in Jesolo. A quick hug for everyone and then our ways part. This is it? It felt very weird! I made my way to the hotel in roughly 2 hours and was happy with my decision for this hotel. But unfortunately I was not happy with leaving my hiking group. I rested a bit at the hotel and then packed my little backpack and made my way to the beach. Arriving there I was still sad. I missed the wonderful people I had met and regretted I couldn't be with them. I still don't have that 'I need to make it to the Markusplatz by foot' feeling as I hadn't started in Munich on the Marienplatz (or Sweden). But I would have loved to be there when they arrive.
Well, there I am at the beach and it is exactly as I thought. Tourists, tourists, tourists. One deck chair & umbrella next to the other. I didn't feel like lying in between them. I would just get more sad. So I did what I knew, what I had been doing for the last 3 weeks. I walked along the beach. Unbelievable how long this beach is and the tourists don't stop! So I walked and walked and started to feel better. It still felt weird, but better. And at one point it hit me: why not finish it? I had my book with me and looked at the route. 6 hours total, but I had taken the bus and already walked an hour on the beach. So I should be able to make it in 4 hours. A quick look in the clock: 2 pm. So I would be around 6pm at the ferry, on hour boat ride and I am on the Markusplatz. I have nothing better to do, so why not? Maybe that will give me some closure before I fly home. So I walked. Along the beach was great. Barefoot in the water, costing some energy but I didn't have a big backpack so that was fine. And the nice breeze helped as well. Perfect. At one point I had to walk back on the street. 9km next to a street, with flip flops in the sun is not the best thing in the world. So I hurried and made it in a bit more than 2 hours. That was the not so cool part and at some points I nearly regretted my choice. But hey, no way back now. Arriving at the ferry was great. Even though I missed the ferry and had to wait 30 minutes I was just happy. The sky was beautiful as all around me was rain and thunder, making really beautiful pictures, and where I was it stayed dry!
The part on the Markusplatz was as unexciting as I thought. Although it was great and somehow unbelievable, that's all it is. I walked over the square, took some pictures and then made my way to a little side street for some food. I was starving! I had a nice pizza and a decent wine - and completely crashed. It was 8:30, which is close to the mountain bedtime, and I still had to make my way back out of Venice by public transport. Around 10:30 I arrived at my hotel, happily falling into the bed.
I won't bother you with day 24. It is my travel back day. Waking up after a shitty night, hot and loud, I find my room full of ants. It took me 1 hour to clean everything, killing hundreds of the beasts in the sink and I even threw away my long sleeve as it was completely covered in ants. Then to the airport, flight to Amsterdam delayed, luckily I have 3 hours stop over. The funniest thing: I have a beer with my flatmate at schiphol as he is flying to stuttgart as well today, just one hour later. Then flight back to Stuttgart (as well 30 minutes delayed) where my Mum & Dad pick me up. Home again,  that's it, the end!
