Day 6: The Seven Tuxer Summits

So this is the day. Many people call it the most beautiful part of the trip. I guess that is why it has been added as an option to the original route. We started as early as we could, around 7:30, right after breakfast. The first peak was easy, 5 minutes up from the hut :-) then we started a funny up and down to the second summit. And this was for the first time real alpine mountains with parts that reminded a bit of climbing. It was a beautiful way to the first five peaks all somewhere around 2700m, I really enjoyed the day. As a bonus I suddenly wasn't the slowest of the group anymore. So while three of us were well ahead, I was making my way together with our Swedish friends. The last two summits I wouldn't count as peaks, actually I kind of missed the last one I think. If the day would have ended here, somewhere around peak 6, it would have been perfect. A good 8 hours on the road, quite some up and down, beautiful mountains and a cool path.
Unfortunately this was not the end of the day. And with already being quite tired we still had to 2-3 hours to go. On a stupid boring road. In the heat. At already around 4pm. I guess you can paint the picture now. I hated the rest. I just wanted to lay down at the side of the road. I had decided that if a car would come, I would definitely try to get a ride. Obviously no car came. And then we missed the last shortcut. You can't imagine how annoying it is if you see your destination already for around 1 hour and just don't get closer.
Well, in the end you do. In my case completely exhausted. Luckily our friends had taken care of everything: room, shower, food. And even though it was the eurocup final that night, at 9pm I was in bed and had a great sleep!
