Day 14: Reunited
As you may remember, we had considered to get up 1 hour before sunrise and go to the top of Piz Boe top see sunrise from the highest peak in the area. Somehow we never talked about this again. After breakfast we left and made it up to the peak in 40 minutes (Wohoo me). And it was stunning. The describe the area around our hut from last night like being on the moon and you could see that again from the top. Plus everything else. After a tea at the peak hut (where we met everyone again who had made their way up there yesterday evening) and a visit to the WC Alpinistico (a toilet with a view) we made our way down again. As most others we had decided to trade additional 2 hours steep going down to another 20 minutes going back up to the cable car.
And guess who we met there? Our Swedish friends! As we had agreed to meet up in a place not too far from where they were they had taken the cable car up to enjoy the view and make a lazy day. Great to see them again. After some socialising we made our way down and hiked the 1 hour to tonight's hut. Two striking things: so many Italian tourists again (already up the hill due to the cable car, you sometimes actually had to fight your way against the crowd) and what a temperature difference! Arriving at the bar station it was suddenly Italian summer!
Arriving at our hut around lunch time was not the smartest thing. Crowded with day tourists, we first sat down for a beer and then checked in. Again luxury, a 4 bed room for us, unlimited hot shower (great after hiking up the mountain, no shower in the hut, some more hiking up the mountain and then hiking in 30+ degrees) and of course some laundry.
In the evening, finally the couple made it as well to our place. As we had made it a short day they could catch up again.
So here we are again, our group of 6 from day 2 (my day 2 at least) reunited. Fun times!
